Discussion of the current limitations to protein structure analysis and the complex chemical reactions in biological processes. Extensive use of the scientific literature to understand how altering a protein's chemical structure affects its function. In lecture and laboratory portions of the course the molecular detail of protein structure is linked to their effectiveness as catalysts. Prerequisites: CHM 321, CHM 212 and either CHM 331 or BIO 334. Open to senior chemistry majors and senior BMB majors. Mehl
