This survey introduces students to the masterpieces representing Western world literature, beginning with excerpts from the Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek epics and culminating with the works of the Renaissance authors. Papers are required. Prerequisites: ENGL 1301 and 1302 and a passing score on the Reading section of the THEA test or alternative test or completion of READ 0306 with a grade of "C" or better. Three classhours per week. Credit: Three semester hours.
