A survey of the cultural patterns of Spanish America from the pre-Columbian period to the present time. Emphasis is placed on the basic elements of life in Spanish America that have been decisive in forging its culture from the earliest times to the present. Cultural elements: political, geographic, educational, attitudinal, psychological, social, economical, religious, and literary, in addition to the role of Spanish America in today's world and its cultural contributions. Spring semester. Prerequisite: SPA 319.
