This course will require students to create a portfolio demonstrating knowledge of appreciation and production of the arts and basic concepts of art through tactile experiences with a variety of media so as to encourage developmental growth and serve as recreational activities. Through classroom observation, readings and lesson plan development, students will understand cognitive growth, theories of learning, typical and atypical physical growth and motor development. Art history and techniques will be orally presented by students as they work cooperatively to manage and acquire research information and library skills. Throughout the semester students, will apply elements of the writing process as they study artists and their work, to format a written paper and oral presentation to the class.
