A comprehensive modern approach to the field of virology that focuses on the biology, application, and control of viruses. Topics include, but are not limited to, virus morphology and replication, evolution and extinction, emerging pathogens, gene and bacteriophage therapy, antiviral drugs, and virus-immune system interactions. 3 lecture hours per week. Offered in alternate spring semesters. Prerequisite: BIO 203/203L.
