A course in abstract mathematics including the integers, groups, normal subgroups, quotient groups, finite abelian groups, rings, integral domains, ideals, quotient rings, fields, homomorphisms, isomorphisms, real and complex numbers, and polynomials. A TI 89 graphing calculator is required for class assignments and testing. Some assignments may require computer use. Prerequisite: MTH 231 and 305.
