This course emphasizes the basic mathematical competencies that represent those elements identified by the ""Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Mathematics"" and the ""National Council of Teachers of Mathematics"" as critical to mathematics instruction for kindergarten and primary grades.Students will learn the pedogogical methods and the essential mathematical theory of Number Sense, Geometry, Fractions, Data Analysis and Statistics and Probability through demonstrations, collaborative learning, modleing and a field experience. The course is intended for sophomore level students. Prerequisite: MTH 103, 104
