This course is designed to assist the student to utilize basic skills of inspection, percussion, palpation, and auscultation. Emphasis is placed on identification of normal findings and development of beginning skills essential to using physical examination as one tool for nursing assessment. The course is prerequisite to or concurrent with first semester Junior level nursing courses - NUR 309 - Professional Processes and NUR 311 - Community Health Nursing: Individual and Family. (Portfolio Assessment available and challenge exam available.) *Students in the ASN program who have a 3.0 GPA in nursing may take this course in the last semester of the sophomore year.
