Students will learn cultural dances of five major world civilizations, with emphasis on rhythmic awareness and movement development. The cultural origins, significance, and motivation, as well as the use of costumes and music, will be explored in lecture and research through live performances, guest artists, and the use of multi-media sources. Instruction will include experiential and written assignments, and students will be expected to participate in an endof- semester concert.
