EDUC 1200 - Careers in Education

Institution:
Houston Community College
Subject:
Description:
Cognitive psychology and teacher education research has resulted in a greatly improved and greatly increased body of knowledge on how students and teachers learn. At this time, there is a striking gap between the knowledge of learning and the application of that knowledge to teachers’ preparation programs. EDUC 1200 enables the student to develop effective academic behaviors for college success and be able to transfer these behaviors into the teaching experience. For successful and sustained reform to occur in the field of teaching, the changes made in how teaching and learning take place in schools must be mirrored in how teachers are prepared to teach.
