The main goal of this course is to acquaint students with the ways in which Americans view and react to the whole subject of death. Reading assignments focus on the psychosocial, theological, and aesthetic ways in which people deal with death and other forms of loss. This course especially challenges students to reflect on the ways (some surprising!) in which people process different types of loss, both personally and culturally.
