This course examines economic thought and trends pertaining to Latin America from structuralism to neoliberalism. It explores how state ownership, private ownership, markets, and planning have been combined in attempts to achieve desired goals. Selected issues of economic importance in the region are addressed, including regional trade efforts such as NAFTA and native peoples' struggles over land rights.
