Re-examine the central issues facing the great masters of twentieth-century architecture: how they formulated their principles, how they applied them, and how those who inherited the legacy have interpreted it. The major attention will focus on either the great master builders such as Le Corbusier, Mies vander Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright and Walter Gropius, or on second generation including the transitional figures such as Philip Johnson and other groups: The Whites, Greys, High-Tech, etc. Prerequisite: Art I/ARCH I or Art 2/ARCH 2 and ARCH 210.
