Analysis of language function in atypical populations and circumstances. Language deficits throughout the lifespan will be considered, with particular emphasis on their relevance to current linguistic and cognitive science theory. Topics covered include atypical language development (e.g., in Specific Language Impairment, Autism, Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome) as well as language impairment after brain damage (e.g., stroke) or as a result of progressive degenerative disorders (e.g., Alzheimer's Disease). Prerequisites: PSYC 117 or 176 or COGS 7 or COGS 140. (Advanced Psychology Seminar) (SS)
