Each course in this series addresses one special aspect of how chemistry is practically applied in modern society. All courses in the series emphasize student-centered, collaborative, hands-on learning activities with an aim to trigger an appreciation for fundamental chemistry concepts. The chemical concepts are presented on a need-to-know basis for a particular minicourse. Sample titles of minicourses are: nuclear chemistry; environmental chemistry; and chemistry in art, food, medicine, household products, transportation or industry. Designed to meet requirement of laboratory science credits for A.A. degree. Students are encouraged to take more than one of these minicourses and accumulate credits to equal a full 5-credit course.
