This course briefly introduces and examines the important content areas in the electronic commerce field. Designed as a sampler course for a new certificate program, the course includes these required areas of study: an overview of the principles of electronic commerce from the business perspective; a history of the origin and growth of e-commerce; a comparison of the differences and similarities between e-commerce and traditional commerce; a study of the relationship of e-commerce to the Internet; electronic money; electronic contracts and legal issues; e-commerce examples; electronic stock trading; electronic catalogs; accounting, auditing and taxation issues; international aspects; and e-marketing.
