This course presents the theory of the process of intravenous (IV) therapy to familiarize the student with its application in ambulatory care. The basics include related anatomy and site selection, equipment and supplies, ongoing maintenance, calculations, risks and complications. Also included are professional standards, national and state laws, and the role of the medical assistant. Prereq: 2.0 GPA and permission.
