Survey focusing on the development of the literature of Spanish America from the preconquest to the beginning of the twentieth century. The works will be discussed within the cultural, historical and literary context of the period under study. At the same time there will be special attention to the discussion, understanding and application of techniques for literary analysis. Three hours credit. Prerequisites: SPN 213 with a C or higher, SPN 289 or 301, and SPN 302, or permission of the instructor.
