An in-depth understanding of volunteerism and philanthropy is explored through the review of current research, principles for practice and theory from the field of management in relation to volunteer administration and philanthropic studies. Specific subtopics include volunteer administrator as leader and manager, recruiting volunteers, designing a volunteer program, training volunteers, understanding philanthropy, philanthropy in society and strengthening philanthropic practice. Three hours credit. Spring. Prerequisite: NPL 225.
