The course will provide in-depth study of a selected, noteworthy author from the American or British literary tradition. The author's seminal and/or most highly canonized work(s), as well as his or her supporting letters, essays, and/or journals will be studied in order to create a thorough understanding of that writer and his or her literary, intellectual, and cultural context. Three hours credit. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: ENG 102.
