This course is designed to support the secondary teacher candidate in the prevention and intervention approaches used to deal with the most common classroom management issues and behavioral difficulties exhibited by students in general education classrooms, grades 6-12. Discussions will focus on the changing adolescent in relation to the middle and high school environment. Specific techniques such as classroom procedures, functional behavior assessment, secondary reinforcement programs, punishment, and school-wide behavioral support will be presented. Fall Semester. Prerequisite: Admission to the Teacher Education Program.
