This course is designed to provide candidates with practical applications for secondary students with disabilities who are pursuing an academic course of study. Emphasis is placed on metacognitive strategies, self-advocacy, self-determination, and other learning strategies. The particular challenges of teaching adolescents with disabilities are also addressed. Three hours credit. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program. include learning theories, human relations skills, techniques of management and discipline, principles of guidance, and assessment of ability and achievement. Three hours credit. Fall. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program.
