Description:
A two hour course that includes 15 hours of observation and participation in an elementary school. Students will be under the direct supervision of public school personnel and a university supervisor. The course is designed to develop the skills needed for early literacy instruction. Emphasis is placed on the application of appropriate methods, principles, materials, and guidelines for teaching reading. Diagnosis of reading problems and techniques for correcting these problems are included. Two hours credit. Fall Semester. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program. Off-campus fieldwork is required.
