A study of the principles and practices of organizing and managing work in the modern factory and office. Focus is on the design of work and the relationship between human and machine in the production of goods. The growing use of operations and production concepts in service firms and offices will be studied. Students will be introduced to principles of plant location and layout, materials handling and transportation, production scheduling and control, and inventory management. Three hours credit. Prerequisites: MGT 221 and STS 220.
