Study and application of current federal income tax laws, with emphasis placed on comprehension of basic tax terminology, problem solving, and compliance. Students will be introduced to the primary sources of tax law and fundamentals of tax research, as well as professional responsibilities of tax return preparers. Issues related to tax procedures for practice before the IRS are also presented. Three hours credit. Prerequisite: Junior standing or permission of instructor.
