Begins the systematic study of Spanish with an emphasis on speaking and listening, basic grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and conversation practice. Practice with lab materials required. PREREQUISITE: No previous background in Spanish, or no more than one year of high school Spanish, or no more than two years of high school Spanish with a "C" average or less. Satisfies a humanities/fine arts/English requirement for AA degree. Formerly SPAN 101.
