This broad survey course examines the history of the juvenile justice system, environmental influences on delinquency, theories of delinquency, controlling delinquency and current trends in juvenile crime. The rationale behind the juvenile system will be examined as well as the juvenile courts. Various theories of crime causation including, sociological, psychological and criminological theories will be analyzed. PREREQUISITE: Eligible for ENGL& 101 or instructor's permission. Satisfies a social science requirement for AA degree.
