Provides an introduction to the ancient philosophy of western civilization. Examines the beginnings of philosophy from pre-Socratic ancient Greece up to the early Christian era, including such philosophers as Thales, Pythagoras, Heraclitus, Parmenides, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Epicurus. Emphasizes how past thinkers have influenced current thought and practice. Satisfies a humanities/fine arts/English requirement for AA degree.
