Provides an introduction to the philosophy of modern western civilization. It examines the period of philosophy from the humanism of the Enlightenment through the end of the 19th century, including such philosophers as Descartes, Leibniz, Spinoza, Hobbes, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, and Kant.
