The first course of a four-quarter calculus sequence is an introduction to differential calculus and related applications. Topics include limits, derivatives of algebraic and transcendental functions; optimization; linearization; numerical methods; modeling. Graphing calculator required. PREREQUISITE: MATH& 142 or MATH 106 with a grade of 2.0 or higher; or appropriate placement score; or instructor's permission. Satisfies a quantitative skills or a natural science requirement for AA degree. Formerly MATH 124.
