An introduction to publication design and production. Some basic knowledge of computers (either PC or Mac) is recommended. Students will develop skills and understanding of the basics of designing a publication, including the following: use of desktop publishing software; use of typography and graphics; working with page grids and templates; different treatments for features, columns, departments; effective cover design; and basic computer skills needed to prepare a publication for print.
