Examines intellectual, religious and cultural change during the Renaissance, Reformation and scientific revolution in Europe, approximately 1350-1650 CE. Attention is given to Renaissance politics and society. The Reformation is explored from religious and cultural perspectives. Competing early modern cosmologies will be explored through a comparison of the witch-hunting craze with the nascent world of modern science. PREREQUISITE: Eligible for ENGL& 101 or instructor's permission. Satisfies a social science requirement for AA degree.
