Attention is given to immigrants of North America; the conquest, and colonization of the continent; the contribution of minority groups, nation-building and myth- making; sectional and regional conflicts; industrialization and post-industrialization; and the emergence of the United States as a major world power. PREREQUISITE: Eligible for ENGL& 101 or instructor's permission. Satisfies a social science requirement for AA degree.
