For science, engineering and other majors who plan to take a year or more of chemistry. The structure of matter, solution chemistry (acid-base and oxidation-reduction), stoichiometry of reaction in solution, thermo chemistry, atomic and electronic structure and quantitative relationships. PREREQUISITE: A grade of 2.0 or higher in CHEM& 140 or one-year high school chemistry course, and concurrent enrollment in MATH 131 or eligible for MATH& 142 or higher, or instructor's permission. Satisfies a lab science requirement for AA degree. Formerly CHEM 140.
