Presents a unified account of contemporary astronomy beginning here at home with our earth and moving outward toward infinity through our solar system, beyond to the stars of our home galaxy and out into the physical universe. Laboratory portion has the purpose of introducing the students to methods and techniques commonly employed in astronomy. Actual experiments performed will vary depending upon weather conditions and which celestial objects are observable that season. Satisfies a natural science or lab science requirement for AA degree. PREREQUISITE; ENGL& 101 or eligible for ENGL& 101. Not open to students who have taken ASTR& 100. Formerly ASTRO 101.
