It examines major social institutions and processes - socialization, the family, sex roles, stratification, deviance and social control, race and ethnicity, and also analyzes the forces, which change or stabilize society. One of the course's main objectives is to increase our understanding of the social environment and of the dynamic interaction between an individual and society.
