Prerequisite: math placement with evidence of trigonometry, or MTH 1150, or MTH 1120 plus MTH 1130 This first course in the calculus sequence is intended for students in the fields of mathematics, engineering, and the physical and life sciences. Topics include limits, continuity, derivatives, basic differential equations, parametric equations, and indefinite and definite integration. Differential calculus applications include L'Hopital's Rule, curve sketching, optimization,Newton's Method, and rate problems. Integral calculus applications include areas of regions,volumes of solids, and arc length. The course is offered in both web and traditional format. Web-based sections will have an additional lab fee. Credit for this course may be earned through CLEP or Advanced Placement Examination.
