Cooperative education is a program designed to award academic credit for work related to a student's major. The learning experience is defined as a combination of professional work experience, the development of measurable learning objectives based on the job description, and the completion of individually tailored co-op assignments. A co-op advisor is assigned to each student to establish the academic validity of the cooperative education credit. The key role of the advisor is to meet with the student's employer and monitor the learning experience so that it reflects the student's academic major and/or career interests. The advisor awards a letter grade at the end of the 15-week work experience. A minimum of 300 hours for paid work experience is required to gain 3 credits. If the co-op position is volunteer/non-paid, a minimum of 120 hours experience required to gain 3 academic credits. Co-Op ( 45.00)
