4 Credits Prerequisite: GPA of 2.75; two education courses at the 300 level; completed application for placement; proof of registration for the appropriate PRAXIS II Exam or proof of a passing score on the appropriate PRAXIS II Exam This course consists of an active field placement of one full day or two half days per week over a fifteen-week period in a public school district in the region and weekly seminars in which the students discuss their experiences and topics relevant to the profession of teaching. Strategies for assessing student learning outcomes are emphasized. Students are required to maintain a reflective journal on their experience, develop an educational belief statement, develop a formal unit plan covering a specific content area, and produce a professional portfolio chronicling their teaching experiences. Transportation to the school district is the responsibility of the student. Professional demeanor by the student is required in all situations.
