This course involves the students with the materials and techniques necessary for the making and application of three-dimensional prosthetic makeup. Special emphasis is placed on developing a working knowledge of facial anatomy and sculpture as it applies to makeup for film, television, and stage. Students will be required to design an original three-dimensional makeup using a minimum of three cast pieces. Demonstrations will include an introduction to the making of foam latex appliances, ventilated hairpieces, and false teeth for theatrical use. Lab hours required, plus lab fee. Prerequisite: THE231 or permission of the instructor. 3 credits.
