4 credits/semester Prerequisite: Art 1005 or Art 1006 or Art 2011 or Art 2012 or permission of the instructor This course explores fundamentals of the painting process as a vehicle for personal expression. Students are presented with formal studio problems highlighting a variety of materials, methods, theories, and modes of expression which utilize the elements of line, shape, value, texture, color, form and space. Experimentation with various media in acrylic, oil, collage, and watercolor will be greatly encouraged. This course may be repeated for advanced credit.
