This course introduces law and society as seen in their intimate interaction, the relation of law to social structure, social change, and conflict resolution. It examines the socio-psychological aspects of judicial behavior and the legal system (lawyers, courts, police, and corrections) in our society. It emphasizes the law as a vehicle of social engineering, a means of social communication, and an essential tool in the implementation of social values.
