Description:

Modern industrial agriculture has greatly increased world food production but is heavily dependent on fossil fuels and large quantities of water. Given future shortages this dependence is not sustainable. Modern agriculture has also led to other environmental problems. This course will examine more sustainable agricultural methods based on ecosystem processes and landscape ecology, including organic methods, integrated pest management, and integrated water management.
