Molecular biology of genetic inheritance and molecular evolutionary genetics, with an emphasis on recent advances. Topics include DNA and chromatin structure and function, regulation of gene expression and related processes, mutation, gene duplication, patterns of generic divergence and genealogical reconstruction. (3 hr. lec.) Prerequisites: BIO 3704 and one semester of Organic Chemistry, or permission of the instructor.
