3 hours. Prerequisite: CISM 2201 with minimum grade of "C". Students learn to write modular, well-documented programs. Topics begin with an overview of problem-solving methods, algorithms, modules, program flow, flowcharting, pseudo-code, and documentation. This is followed by instruction in data types and basic control structures, including loops, conditionals, arrays, subroutines, files, and records. Weekly programming assignments employ these features as they are introduced. Fall.
