Institution:
Ramapo College of New Jersey
Subject:
Description:
What does Diaspora mean in the global village Why study Jewish and African experiences as evidence of culture in exile What can be learned by looking at visual art as it relates to these questions The seminar provides a forum for students who have thought about contemporary culture and art in many Ramapo courses to develop and accomplish an interdisciplinary thesis in the form of a creative visual project or text representing an aspect of the postmodern condition. The diasporas vision fuels my artwork which often merges Jewish/African influences. Students will visit galleries, museums, and educational institutions where multicultural art is regularly exhibited.
