This course introduces students to the fundamentals of microeconomic theory. It deals with the behavior of individual economic units that are small in relation to the national economy as a whole. The course explains how these units- consumers, workers, investors, owners of land, business firms-make their decisions, how they interact to form larger units, called markets and industries. A thorough survey of market failure and government failure will also be covered. Prerequisite: MA 112 (or other equivalent math core).
