4 Credits Prerequisite: EST2012, 3010 or Permission This course covers mare and stallion reproductive characteristics including reproductive physiology of the mare and the stallion, the estrus cycle of the mare, and semen analysis of the stallion; brood mare and neonatal foal care; stallion management; and artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and the collection and the handling of frozen semen. The daily operations and design parameters of a breeding facility also are explored.
