Examines basic principles and current research on earlychildhood curricula. The focus of the course is on designing an integrated, developmentally appropriate curriculum in order to strengthen all aspects of children's development, including cognitive, language, social, emotional, and physical capabilities. The course will discuss the appropriate teaching methods that meet children's individual, developmental, and cultural needs and the importance of observation and authentic assessment in curriculum planning. The course will also address the use of creative play to support children's learning and development in earlychildhood settings. Limited to Education majors only. Prerequisite: A minimum G.P.A. of 2.75. Course Type(s): None
