This course is required for registered nurses seeking school nurse certification who have not had at least 450 hours of experience as a school nurse in a public school. This four-week, full-time, field experience is divided between an elementary and secondary school, and requires participation in the administration and operation of a school health office, under the supervision of a certified, school nurse. Completion of application one semester prior to internship. Prerequisite: HLTH 403 School Nursing and completion of all major courses and professional sequence (excluding Health Education Internship and Classroom Management Workshop). Post baccalaureate students must complete the following prerequisites prior to this course: EDU 250 The Education Challenge; HLTH 403 School Nursing; HLTH 405 Curriculum Development in Health Education/HLTH 407 Methods of Teaching Health Education.
